Start your seeds in eggshells

Caring about the environment is part of being a successful gardener.

Here is a fun, carbon footprint-free idea to utilise when planting seeds this season.

Before you compost or scatter your eggshells, think about using them as planter pots.

You only need a half eggshell. Fill it partially with fertile dirt, and plant your seed.

Dig a hole and plant your eggshell seed where you want the plant to grow. The shells will biodegrade into the surrounding soil, providing the soil with calcium and gradually connecting your growing plantling to the earth around it.

Not only is this fun to do with the kids - it looks so cute - but it can often helps to cradle the seed before planting, giving the seed space to grow.
